The statutes of our carnival association (excerpts)
Section 1 General principles
(1) The association bears the name ‘1. Karnevalsverein CC-AS von 1981 e.V. Leipzig’ (1st Carnival Association CC-AS of 1981 e.V. Leipzig), commonly abbreviated to CC-AS. The colours of the association are yellow and blue.
(2) The association's registered office is in Leipzig, and the association is entered in the register of associations at the Leipzig District Court under number 580.
(3) The association pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes within the meaning of the section ‘Tax-privileged purposes’ of the German Tax Code.
(4) The purpose of the association is to preserve the customs of carnival, Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras. The purpose of the statutes is realised through active preservation of customs, including the preparation and implementation of carnival events that focus on traditional customs such as carnival dancing (especially guard dancing), humorous speeches (Büttenrede) and songs. In addition to the traditional carnival sessions, street carnival celebrations, including the design of parade floats, are also part of the preservation of customs.
(5) Any party political, religious or ideological affiliation of the association is excluded.
Section 2 Principles of charitable status
(1) The association acts altruistically; it does not primarily pursue its own economic interests.
(2) The association's funds may only be used for purposes specified in the statutes. Members shall not receive any payments from the association's funds, except for expenses incurred in connection with member services.
(3) No person may benefit from expenditures that are not related to the purpose of the corporation or from disproportionately high remuneration.
(4) Upon dissolution of the association, its assets shall be transferred to a public corporation or another tax-privileged corporation for the purpose of promoting the customs of carnival, Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras.
